Mary Emily Anderson

Mary Emily Anderson, 95, formerly of Cresson, went to heaven Friday at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg.

She was born in Scranton, daughter of Thomas D. and Mabel (Morgan) Jehu. She married Donald C. Anderson on Aug. 30, 1942, and she is survived by her husband of nearly 72 years, who resides at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg.

Mary was a wonderful, loving mother to her three children: Donald D. (Ina) of Portage, Cathryn (Michael) Vargo of Cresson and the late Thomas E., who preceded her in death on July 14, 1995. She truly loved her three grandchildren: Jennifer Vargo and Jill (Craig) Cavalet of Cresson and David (Kara) Vargo of Gibsonia, and she was so very proud of her four great-grandchildren: Madison and Avery Cavalet and Pierce and Gabriel Vargo.

She was the last surviving member of her family, which included three brothers: Walter, Robert and Thomas; and a sister, Cathryn Badurski.

Mary and Don had been retired in Florida for the past 30 years and enjoyed their life, friends and activities greatly. They were blessed to have had such a long life together camping, fishing, traveling and being independent. Mary loved to sing and play the piano for many church services.

At Mary’s request, there will be no viewing or memorial service. She will be buried in Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Fla.

The family requests that any memorials be donated to Cresson Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 263, Cresson, PA 16630.
