Harvey David Wetter
Harvey David Wetter, 90, Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Hollidaysburg, died peacefully Saturday at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was under hospice care with InCare for the past nine months.
He was born in Spencer, W.Va., son of the late Henry and Eleanor (Newhart) Wetter.
Surviving are five children: Wallace “Sonny” of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Violet “Cookie” Thompson of Live Oak, Fla., Leona “Dutch” Stahl-Hardt of Logansport, Ind., Jo Ann Kremer of Steelton and Leona “Candy” Thompson of Anderson, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two grandsons.
Harvey served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a medic in Greenland. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central and Conrail shops as a blacksmith and retired in 1982. Formerly of Hollidaysburg, he moved to Myrtle Beach in 2005. He attended the Spirit Night dinners at Surfside United Methodist Church and enjoyed the weekly fellowship of church members and snowbirds alike.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Department of Surfside United Methodist Church in Surfside Beach, S.C.
