Gary K. Bougher
Gary K. Bougher, 78, Bellwood, loving husband and devoted father, went to be with his Lord Friday evening.
He was the oldest son of the late James C. and Barbara (Stonerook) Bougher.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie; daughters: Gwenda (Eric) English of New Hampshire, Delcee Bougher of Altoona, Karen (Bud) Keller of Bellwood, and Kim Gates of Tyrone; a special grandson, Phillip “Todd” Ricketts; grandchildren, Kristen and Megan Gates, Destiny and Josh Tozier, and Wayne and Amanda Datres; brothers: Glenn (Martha) of Duncansville, Gerry and Randy, both of Colorado; and sisters: Barbara (Wayne) Guella, Cheryl (Alex) Mobley and Gail Jarret, all of the Duncansville area.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Robert and James.
Gary was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during the Korean conflict.
He had previously worked at Altoona Pipe and Steel, then after being one of the first hired at PPG Industries, Tipton, he retired as a shift supervisor after 27 years of service.
Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to Bolivia, N.C., where he served as president of the Lions Club for three years and was on the board of trustees at Bethel United Methodist Church, where he also did a lot of carpentry and remodeling for the church.
After returning to Tipton in 2001, he became a member of the Grazierville United Methodist Church where he served as chairman of the board of trustees and was instrumental in the remodeling of the church. He also served as a volunteer for the Angel Food Ministries.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his three beloved little dogs: Matti, Lexi and Cassie.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014, the Rev. Robert Stump officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
The family suggests that contributions in Gary’s memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
