Dorothy Lee Eckard

Dorothy Lee “Cork” Eckard, 85, East Freedom, went home to be with the Lord Monday at Autumn Estate in Hollidaysburg.

She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late William and Kathleen (Fox) Burger. She married George Eckard, and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters: Kathy Wilt and husband, Sheldon “Doc,” of Roaring Spring and Betsy Musselman and husband, Gary, of Queen; eight grandchildren: Richard Eckard, Sheldon “Von” Wilt, Doug Eckard and wife, Luella, Kristee Vance, Angel Lee, Leslie Weyandt and husband, Ronnie, Renee Claar and husband, Tyler, and Cory Musselman; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Burger.

She was preceded in death by two sons: Rusty and Eugene and wife, Trina; and a daughter, Deborah.

Dorothy was a 1947 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and was employed for many years as a cook at Chilcote’s Restaurant. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, East Freedom. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a great wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Friends will be received from 4 until the 5 p.m. memorial service Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 130 Mount Pleasant St., East Freedom, Pastor Charles Yingling officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to her church.
