Charles D. ‘Charlie’ Ginter

Charles D. “Charlie” Ginter, 83, of Williamsburg, passed away late Thursday evening at his home.

He was born in Alexandria, Huntingdon County, son of the late Franklin K. and S. Pearl (Black) Ginter. He married Patricia A. Frye on Sept. 2, 1952, in Winchester, Va., and she passed away on May 24, 2002.

Surviving are three sons: Roger W. (wife, Debbie) of Martinsburg, Thomas S. (wife, Lori) of Altoona, and Michael B. (wife, Gloria) of Williamsburg; a daughter, Cathy Jo (Tom) of Mercer; four grandchildren: Jennifer Jo Boggs (husband, Matthew), Jesse D., Michael J., and Kourtney J.; two great-grandchildren: Caitlyn Jo Boggs and Dalton T. Boggs; and a brother, Franklin K. Jr. (wife, Linda) of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles D. “Chuck”; and a grandson, Jonathan M.

Charlie retired as a railroad car burner from the former Berwin White Railway Service Co., Hollidaysburg, with over 40 years of service.

He was a member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church.

Charlie was a Navy veteran serving from 1948-52 as a gunner and firefighter.

He was a member of Williamsburg Lions Club and a life member of Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Company, Station 90.

Friends will be received from 5 until the 6 p.m. public memorial service Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, with Pastor Heather A. Hughes officiating. Private inurnment will follow at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Company or Williamsburg Lions Club.
