Willis Martin ‘Mart’ Walls

Willis Martin “Mart” Walls, 90, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Saturday at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview.

He was born in Lower Reese, son of Blair and Sarah (Henry) Walls. He married Helen L. Stiffler on Sept. 18, 1946, and she preceded him in death in Sept. 1992. He then married Marian E. Showalter on May 6, 1993.

Surviving are his wife, Marian, with whom he shared 21 years of marriage; two daughters: Linda L. Berkheimer and husband, Michael, of Duncansville and Sandra DelGrosso and husband, Bo, of Tyrone; five sons: Randy and wife, Ruth Ann “Ruthie” of Hollidaysburg, Larry and wife, Annette, of Martinsburg, J. Michael and wife, Robin of Hollidaysburg, D. Scott and wife, Janice, of Linglestown and Mark and wife, Jane, of Spruce Creek; stepchildren: Gloria Tate, Wanda Loose and husband, Stanley, Kenneth Showalter and wife, Suz, of Williamsburg, Tim Showalter and wife, Hong, of Clearfield and Kelly Nunamaker and husband, Bruce, of Imler; 31 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles and Howard; and a stepdaughter, Diane Hoffman.

Mart was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII, having served in the South Pacific. He was employed as a caretaker for 18 years by Spruce Creek Rod & Gun Club, where he was a lifetime member.

Mart was a lifetime member of Juniata Valley Gospel Church. He loved hunting, fishing, travel and gardening.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, by Pastor Bill Gualdoni, with military honors by Blair County Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be in Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Juniata Valley Gospel Church.
