Eleanore S. Burget
Eleanore S. Burget, 88, Altoona, died Wednesday morning at Elmcroft of Altoona Senior Living Community, Duncansville.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Chester and Anna Catherine (Kleinsorgan) Smith. She married Paul Adam Burget on July 2, 1951, at First Lutheran Church, Altoona, and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2013.
Surviving are a daughter, MaryAnn (Timothy) Burget-Shea of Hollidaysburg; a daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Jane (Henderson) Burget of Altoona; and four grandchildren: Adam J. (Tia) and Garran T. Burget and Saidi B. and Tyler B. Shea.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert B., on July 9, 1997; and a sister, Marian McCall.
Eleanore was a graduate of Altoona High School and Altoona Hospital School of Nursing. She received her nurse’s training at Cook County Hospital, Chicago. She retired in 1989 as a registered nurse with Home Nursing Agency after 20 years of service and was formerly employed at Altoona Hospital and the City of Altoona. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Altoona.
Eleanore was an avid reader and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and raising flowers, especially African violets and orchids and fruit trees from seed. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 9, 2014, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, Pastor Ralph Hamer officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
