Darl E. Burket
Darl E. Burket, 85, Imler, passed away Sunday at Homewood at Martinsburg.
He was born in Claysburg, son of the late Nevin and Glenn (Langham) Burket. He married Betty L. Imler on Aug. 8, 1946, in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Beverly Dugan and husband, John, of Imler; three grandchildren: Jeff and Karen Dugan and Jodi Glass; four great-grandchildren: Justin and Cody Dugan and Kari and Kyle Glass; and a sister, Joanna Wood.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Briggle; and three brothers: Elvin, Edward and Franklin Burket.
Darl retired as a machinist from General Refractories, Claysburg, after more than 37 years of service, and he also served as union president for several years. He was a member of United Steelworkers and enjoyed reading, hunting and watching his great-grandchildren play in the yard.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. today, May 20, 2014, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014, Mr. Palmer Knisely officiating. Interment will be at St. Mark’s Cemetery, King.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Home Nursing Agency Hospice, 201 Chestnut Ave., P.O. Box 352, Altoona, PA 16603.
