Elizabeth B. Miller-Housel

Elizabeth B. Miller-Housel, 88, Martinsburg, formerly of Saxton, passed away Wednesday at Homewood at Martinsburg.

She was born in the Harrisburg area, daughter of the late Elmer F. and Hilda (Reber) Berger. She moved to Martinsburg early in life with her parents as her father was a Church of God minister.

She was united in marriage to Joe B. Miller; they resided in Saxton, where they farmed for 47 years until Joe’s passing. She then moved to Martinsburg and married Blair Housel. After Blair’s death, she resided at Graystone Court, Roaring Spring, Elmcroft of Altoona Senior Living Community, Duncansville, and most recently Homewood at Martinsburg.

Betty was the loving mother and grandmother of three children: Joe Alan Miller and wife, Enid, of Saxton, Anita M. Stoudnour and husband, James, of Saxton and Jeffrey B. Miller and wife, Pam, of Avenue, Md.; five grandchildren: Shelby Miller Crooks, Gregory Stoudnour, Chris Miller, Susan Stoudnour Arnold and Jeffrey D. Miller; three step-grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six siblings: Dorothy Avery, Warren Berger, Marie Kensinger, Mildred Greenleaf, John Berger and James Berger.

Betty was a member of Raven Run Church of the Brethren, Saxton. Over the years, she had been a homemaker, factory worker and bank teller.

Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 until the 3 p.m. funeral service Friday, April 4, 2014, at Raven Run Church of the Brethren, Pastor Dan Hammel officiating. Burial will be held at Bunker Hill Cemetery.

If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Betty to Raven Run Church of the Brethren.
