Helen M. McKee
Helen M. McKee, 90, Altoona, passed away Saturday at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring.
She was born in Mineral Point, daughter of the late G. Ray and Freda (Koenig) Wilson. She married Clyde E. McKee.
Surviving are her husband, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage; a daughter, Connie Lyszyk and husband, Roman, in Michigan; and a granddaughter, Olivia.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Ness, in 2010; a brother, John, who was killed in action during WWII; and a sister, Dorothy Manning.
Helen was a 1941 graduate of Franklin High School, Johnstown, and a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Johnstown. She was employed as a registered nurse and also served in the U.S. Army as a nurse during WWII. She was a member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren and enjoyed cooking and reading.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, Pastor Bradley R. Runkle officiating. Interment will be in Carson Valley Cemetery with military honors provided by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund.
