Glenn V. Mallory

Sept. 23, 1927 – March 15, 2014

Glenn V. Mallory, 86, Altoona, died Saturday afternoon at UPMC Altoona following a brief illness.

He was born in Altoona, the son of the late William Lorenzo and Anna (McMullen) Mallory. He married Elda M. Fether on June 27, 1957, in Winchester, Va. She died on March 7, 2012.

He is survived by a daughter, Wilma L. Mallory of Altoona; and a son, Eric M. Mallory and wife, Yolanda, and their children: Jordan and Dylan of Carmel, Ind.; and a sister, Joan Harpster of Redmond, Ore.

He was preceded in death by four sisters: Jean, Phyllis, Jade and Maxine; and four brothers: Sheldon, Sidney, Bernard and Jack.

Glenn retired as a staff sergeant from the United States Air Force after 30 years of service, serving in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

He also had been employed at the Lithcote Rail Shops and Blair County Day Care Services.

He enjoyed spending time with his dog, Casey.

He was a member of the Duncansville V.F.W. Post 8724 and the American Legion.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. by Pastor Charles Baughman. Military honors will be conducted by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be made in Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

Contributions in Glenn’s memory may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
