George E. ‘Ed’ Whitaker

George Edward “Ed” Whitaker, 68, Williamsburg, went home to be with the Lord late Monday evening at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late George B. and Juniata A. (Blyler) Whitaker. He married Linda L. Blough on April 11, 1969, in Williamsburg.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 44 years; two sons: Scott and wife, Malissa, and Chad, all of Williamsburg; and two granddaughters: Madalyn and Lydia.

Ed was a 1964 graduate of Williamsburg High School and received his associate degree from Penn State University. He retired as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver from PennDOT, Blair County, in 2008. He attended Williamsburg Alliance Church, rural Williamsburg, and was involved with many community and charity organizations in Williamsburg and Blair County.

Ed loved vacationing and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed socializing and laughing with friends, motorcycles, kayaking, camping and target shooting.

Friends will be received from 2:30 until the 4 p.m. funeral service Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Williamsburg Alliance Church, Pastor Paul R. Campbell officiating. Private interment will follow at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to Crossroads, Williamsburg, or the Williamsburg Alliance Church.
