Charles G. Richardson

Charles G. Richardson, 84, Roaring Spring, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday morning at home surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Robert Franklin and Elenor Elizabeth (Feltenberger) Richardson. He married Marie E. Helsel on Nov. 3, 1950, and she died Dec. 24, 2013.

Surviving are 11 children: Charles R. and wife, Colleen, James W., Timothy A., Nancy L. Lingenfelter and husband, Fred, Steven D., Brenda L. and Thomas C., all of Roaring Spring, Susan E. Taylor and husband, Harry, of Altoona, Vicki L. and Curtis G. and wife, Tammy, all of East Freedom, and Teresa M. and special friend, Tonya Border, of Saxton; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by a sister, Elsie Snyder of Duncansville; a brother, Dean Richardson and wife, Phoebe Ann, of Greenwood; five stepsisters: Shirley, Helen, Joanne, Karen and Denise; a stepbrother, Jim; six sisters-in-law: Shirley Richardson, Betty McCauley, Edna Weitzel, Kay Keithly, Mary Jane Patterson and Debbie Helsel; and three brothers-in-law: Morris Mobley, Daniel C. Helsel and Paul Weitzel.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Sue Richardson; three brothers: William, Clair and Lee; and two sisters: Donna Jean Mobley and Sarah McChesney.

Charles was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Appleton Papers Inc. in 1993 after 37 years of service. He had also worked at Bakers Farm Market for many years. He attended Albright Church of the Brethren, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and his dog, Bruno.

Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at Albright Church of the Brethren, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, by Pastors Paul Johnson and Michael Olivieri. Interment with military honors will follow in Holsinger Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charles’ memory may be given to the funeral home.
