Vincent C. Peterson

Vincent C. Peterson, 89, Altoona, passed away Jan. 25, 2014.
He was born in Preston, Minn., son of the late Clarence and Mabel Peterson.
After graduation in 1942, he served in WWII with the 71st Infantry Division, and received a Purple Heart for his service. Post-war, he enrolled with the Minneapolis Fine Arts Institute. While there, he met fellow student, Joyce Hauser. They were married in 1953 and moved to Altoona to raise their family.
He was employed at the VA Medical Center and Rothrauff Travel Service, where he worked until retirement. Throughout his adult life he also worked as a commissioned artist.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four siblings and a niece. His wife, Joyce, passed away in 1978.
Sharp of mind, and in fair health up to the time of his death, Vince was blessed with a long and wonderful life. He will be greatly missed by the loving family and friends who survive him. His extended family, as well as his dear friend, Mame Thal, and her family, feel the loss of his passing.
A service of remembrance for family and friends will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at the Penn State University All-Faith Chapel.
