Ronald E. Blazier

Ronald E. Blazier, 71, Antis Township, died Sunday morning at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness.

He was born in Antis Township, son of the late Charles and Goldie (Nearhoof) Blazier.

Surviving are a son, Ronald P. of Bellwood; three grandchildren: Ronnie Jr., Andrew and Alex; a brother, Charles F. of Juniata; and two sisters: Iris F. McClellan of East Freedom and Darlene Ward of Alexandria, Va.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry, in 2009.

Ronald was a 1960 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Vietnam era and retired as a carpenter. He was a member of Blazing Arrow Hook & Ladder Company, Tyrone, and John M. Anderson American Legion Post 424, Bellwood, and served as a coach and treasurer of the Bellwood-Antis Little League for many years. He enjoyed playing cards at the Hookies.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood. Interment will be at Antis Cemetery, Antis Township.

The family suggests that contributions be made in Ron’s memory to John M. Anderson American Legion Post 424, Bellwood.
