Carole Jones, 69, a resident of Crescent City, Fla., formerly of Irvona, died Friday in Florida.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Harold Fortney and Janet (Clarkson) Fortney Bloom. She married John Jones on Feb. 9, 1962, in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years; four children: Casey (Lois Williams) of Borrego Springs, Calif., Scott (Jessica Sampson) of Pottstown and Bill (Rhoda Ginter) and Cortney Haynes (Mike), both of Irvona; nine grandchildren: Casey Jr., Blakely, Bill Jr., Jonathon, Alison, triplets Jacob, Aubrey and Reagan, and Gavin; and a special aunt, Donna (Cusick) Clarkson of Coalport. Carole was very fond of her dog, Elvis “Goober.”
She was preceded in death by a special uncle, James Clarkson.
Carole owned and operated Jones Transportation Co., Irvona, for more than 30 years. She was a member of Coalport United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed sprint car and go-kart racing and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Gibbons Funeral Home, Coalport, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Coalport United Methodist Church, the Rev. Paul Fields officiating. Committal will be at Lyleville Cemetery.
