Phyllis A. Hetrick
Phyllis A. Hetrick, 61, Claysburg, died Thursday evening at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late John W. Hetrick and Jennie Zelda (Baker) Hetrick-Dick.
Surviving are a daughter, Jolene L. Chamberlain and husband, Ben, of Claysburg; two grandsons: Dakota and Corey Chamberlain; four sisters: Patricia Decker and husband, Calvin, of Roaring Spring, Helen Knisely and husband, Ed, of Claysburg, Annabelle Clark and husband, Bob, of Claysburg and Debbie Nicodemus and husband, Kurt, of Osterburg; a brother-in-law, Joe Kennedy of Claysburg; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special friend, Allen Dicken.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Thomas L. Dick; and a sister, Thelma Kennedy.
Phyllis attended Claysburg-Kimmel High School and had worked at H.H. Brown Shoe Co., Martinsburg, for 25 years. She had attended Claysburg Church of the Brethren. She had served as fire police for the Claysburg Volunteer Fire Company for many years and was also a member of the fire department ladies auxiliary.
Phyllis enjoyed watching her grandsons play baseball and football, turkey calling, playing bingo and her dog, Sassy.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing, and a funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family by Pastor Keith Showalter. Interment will be made in Claysburg Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Phyllis’ memory may be given to the Claysburg Volunteer Fire Company or to the family.
