Margaret E. Irvin
Margaret Etta Irvin, 85, rural Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness.
She was born in Burnham, Mifflin County, daughter of the late Joseph and Claire Z. (Sheetz) Farringer. She married Jesse W. Irvin on May 28, 1948, in Williamsburg.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 65 years; three sons: L. Dennis and wife, Sherri, of Story, Wyo., and Gary G. and wife, Charlotte, and Kevin W., all of Williamsburg; a daughter, Kim Doolittle and husband, Rob, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Hope DeFoe of Greenville, Ohio; and a special friend, Esther Clapper of Roaring Spring.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin A. Irvin; a brother, Joseph; three sisters: Frances Walters, Virginia Johnson and Joan Strayer; and a daughter-in-law, Robin Irvin.
Margaret was a 1946 graduate of Williamsburg High School. She was a lifelong member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and served by participating in many various church functions.
Margaret was a homemaker who enjoyed needleworking, gardening, cooking, baking and solving crossword puzzles. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions fan and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, Pastor Heather A. Hughes officiating. A private interment will follow at Bowman’s Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton Depot, Huntingdon County.
Memorial contributions may be given to Williamsburg Ambulance Club or Williamsburg United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
