Lewis ‘Buddy’ Rusich
Lewis “Buddy” Rusich, 84, Williamsburg, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in rural Williamsburg, son of the late Joseph and Victoria (Bryan) Rusich. He married Virginia M. Mingle on Nov. 4, 1961, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years; three daughters: Lisa Wombacher (husband, Sam) of rural Hollidaysburg, Sharie Helsley (Kevin Kline) of Huntingdon and Jennifer Rusich (Rick Nisewonger) of rural Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Dorothy Chamberlain of Williamsburg and Mildred Frank of Hollidaysburg.
He was preceded in death by six sisters: Rose Bazazian, Marie Gavin, Helen Spearly, Stephanie Bumgardner, Anna Rusich and infant Eva; and four brothers: Frank, Joseph, John and Victor.
Buddy was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a paratrooper from 1946 to 1949, attaining the rank of Private. He was a union iron worker for 40 years and loved hunting, fishing and gardening.
Friends will be received from 2 until the 3 p.m. funeral liturgy outside of Mass on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, with Father Aron M. Maghsoudi officiating. Private interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Williamsburg.
