Joseph C. Snyder
Joseph C. Snyder, 67, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of Henry and Alma (Wilt) Snyder. He married Gloria J. Patterson on March 12, 1966.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years; two daughters: Lori Jo (George) Dibert and Pamela (Travis) Etters, both of Altoona; two grandchildren: Landon Dibert and Emma Josephine Etters; a sister, Ruth Williams of Duncansville; a brother, Paul D. in Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Rupp; and three brothers: Elsworth, Robert and Donald.
Joe was a 1964 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a helicopter mechanic. He worked for Warnaco for 25 years until its closing and retired in 2008 from the Carpenter Co. as a head machine mechanic. He was a member of Berean Baptist Church, Duncansville.
Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, and he loved helping and doing for others.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Berean Baptist Church, Pastor Barry Fry officiating. Full military honors will follow.
In memory of Joe, contributions may be given to Berean Baptist Church, 2465 Mill Road, Duncansville, PA 16635, or to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 967, c/o James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, 2907 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
