Harold Earl ‘Hank’ Grager
Harold Earl “Hank” Grager, 87, of 1311 N. Cambria St., Bellwood, died Tuesday at his residence.
He was born in Altoona, son of William Wilbert and Grace (Creighton) Grager. He married Betty Gensamer on June 9, 1950.
Surviving are his wife; six children: Harold “Hank” Jr. (Lynette) of Altoona, Richard in Tennessee, Nancy Garber (Dan) and Judy Carson, both of Tyrone, Patty McCulloch (Rick) of Altoona and Mary Waite of Tyrone; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Evelyn Burns of Grazierville, Helen Bonar of Washington, Pa., and Regina Grager of Bedford.
Hank was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving as a military policeman in Okinawa, Japan. He retired from Pipers Body Shop in Altoona as an auto repairman and always enjoyed camping, the outdoors and playing his guitar. He was a life member of the Hookies Fire Company and a member of VFW Post 4559 and American Legion Post 281.
Friends will be received from 2 until the 4 p.m. memorial service Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, Pastor Kathy Colebank officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Tyrone Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family would be appreciated in care of the Derman Funeral Home.
