Victor John Dinicola
Victor John Dinicola, 64, Hollidaysburg, died peacefully Thursday at UPMC Altoona surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Victor M. and Jane M. (Tarin) Dinicola. He married Janet L. Celmer on Oct. 3, 1970, at St. Joseph’s Church, Beaverdale.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 43 years; two sons: Walter John (Heather) of Sykesville, Md., and Victor James of Altoona; three grandchildren: Carter, Tyler and Hunter Dinicola; a brother, Robert (Bonnie) of Altoona; a sister, Rosalind Merritts of Hollidaysburg; and many nieces, nephews and cousins who were always a great joy to him. Also surviving are his golf friends: Tim, Jim and Tom.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Constance Stoltz; and a brother, Stephen.
Victor was a 1967 graduate of Bishop Carroll High School and a 1969 graduate of West Penn School of Technology, Pittsburgh. He retired from PennDOT in 2006 after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.
Victor enjoyed golfing at the Summit and watching Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers football games, as well as being an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He was an amazing husband, father and brother. He will always be remembered by his family with great love and admiration.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing, and he will be cremated. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations for Masses for Victor may be offered at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, or donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Food for Families Soup Kitchen, 2201 Union Ave., Altoona, PA 16601, or www.svdpusa.org.
