Thomas Derwin Peters

Thomas Derwin “Pete” Peters, 54, Altoona, died Tuesday at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Richard Sr. and Ruth (Zeiders) Peters. He married RaeAnn Sloppy on Sept. 22, 1992.

Surviving are his wife; four children: Brian (Tracy) Peters of New Orleans, La., Olivia Peters of Tyrone and her son, Gavin Vicars, Ashley (Amanda) Fields of Ellicott City, Md., and Brandon (Dara) Fields of New York City, N.Y.; five siblings: Patrick (Diana), Glenn and twins David (Cheryl) Peters and Darlene Winters, all of Altoona, and Rick Jr. in Arizona; Tammy Daski Peters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, James Winters; and a niece, Jennifer Peters.

Tom was a 1977 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He was currently employed as a sales representative for City Beverage for the last eight years and had previously been employed by Blair Sign Co. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata, and also belonged to the St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood, Buccinese Society, Cesare Battisti Club and Bedford American Legion.

Tom was an extreme Minnesota Vikings football fan and also a fan of Penn State football. He enjoyed traveling and fishing.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, followed by a celebration of life service at 3 p.m., the Rev. John P. Klingeman officiating.
