Mary E. (Scholton) Leamer

Mary E. (Scholton) Leamer, 82, Duncansville, formerly of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Altoona, died unexpectedly Saturday at her residence.

She was born in Corry, daughter of the late Norman F. and Eleanor E. (Beduze) Scholton.

Mary was blessed with four children, eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild: Fred L. Leamer Jr. and wife, Marybeth, of Alpharetta, Ga., and their children, Justin Leamer and Melissa Mittelbronn and husband, Jon, and their daughter, Madison; Kathleen Tepsic and her husband, Austin, of Tyrone and their children, Austin, Evan and Elizabeth Tepsic; Colleen Garlick and husband, Chet, of Duncansville and their daughter, Nichole; and Joel Leamer of Naples, Fla., and his children, Kyle and Olivia.

Also surviving are two sisters: Shirley Coppersmith and Susan Welsh; and a brother, Richard Scholton and wife, Judy. She was a proud aunt of many nephews and nieces and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Leamer Sr., on Jan. 8, 2011; and two brothers: Norman and Robert Scholton.

Mary and Fred were married for more than 59 years. They enjoyed their retirement by traveling to three countries and 49 states. They spent many winters in Florida and moved there for 14 years until returning to Pennsylvania in 2003. She attended Grace Fellowship Church Leamersville Campus, and was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary 8724, past high priestess of Jobel Court 11, and past president of the Women’s Club of Bonita Springs, Fla.

Her hobbies were shopping (not buying anything or returning it all), bingo, occasional trips to Maryland and Harrisburg, gardening and reading. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, shopping and bingo friends, and neighbors. She lived her last years to the fullest.

Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, Pastor Mark E. Lingenfelter officiating. Interment will be at New Canoe Creek Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
