Alfreda J. Johns

Alfreda J. “Freddie” Johns, 54, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of Edna Butterbaugh and the late Alfred Joseph Veloz.

Surviving are her husband, Phillip B. Johns of Hagerstown; her son, Phillip E. A. Johns, U.S. Air Force, of Spokane, Wash.; her mother; two sisters: Stephanie Veloz and Kathleen Roe of Altoona; a niece, Anita Veloz; a nephew, Robert Veloz, and a good friend, Marcus Chamberlain.

Freddie graduated from Bellwood High School and attended Penn State Altoona. She worked for Lafferty Trucking in Altoona, and later as an auditor for Horst Milk Transfer.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Harman, Kenworthy & Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, Md.

Visitation also will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, where a funeral liturgy will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013. Interment will be in Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alfreda’s name may be made to Boys and Girls Clubs of Washington County, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
