Zola F. ‘Zoe’ Bowser

Zola F. “Zoe” Bowser, 85, The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, was called home to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon.

She was born in Rockwood, daughter of Peter F. and Carolyn (Schmittle) Putnam. She married David J. Bowser on Sept. 27, 1951, in Winchester, Va., and he passed away March 17, 1982.

Surviving are a sister, Margaret Gramenz of Cincinnati, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Zoe was a 1946 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She retired after many years of service as a secretary for American General Life Insurance Co. She was a very spiritual person and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg, where she was very active. She was also a member of the American Rescue Mission, Hollidaysburg, and Meals on Wheels.

Zoe enjoyed shopping on QVC, traveling, flea markets, fishing, walking and picnics. She was a strong-willed lady.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 19, 2013, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. by Pastor Dennis Derr. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

The family requests that donations be made to First United Methodist Church, 801 Allegheny St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648, in memory of Zola.
