Patricia Ann (Bolger) Malone
Patricia Ann (Bolger) Malone, 84, Hollidaysburg, died Thursday at Homewood at Martinsburg.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Herbert S. Sr. and Mary R. (Martin) Bolger. She married Eugene H. Malone Sr. in 1963, and he died in 2005.
Surviving are a daughter, Hully Hoover and husband, Charles, of Hollidaysburg; a son, Martin T. and wife, Rebecca Stevens, of Hollidaysburg; a stepson, Eugene H. Jr. and wife, Saundra, of Duncansville; six grandchildren: Agnes, Hunter, Molly, Mitchell, Eric and Meredith; and a brother, Herbert S. Bolger Jr. and wife, Dolores, of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lenore Bolger, in 1950.
Patricia was a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School, where she won the Westinghouse Science Award and was a member of the National Honor Society. She earned a B.S. in education from the State Teachers College at Shippensburg, then an M.S. in education from Penn State University. She was employed as an elementary school teacher in the Altoona School District and retired as an elementary principal from the Hollidaysburg School District. She then served as president of Malone Enterprises.
Patricia formerly attended First Presbyterian Church, Hollidaysburg. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Delphi Chapter 65, and the Navy League, a life member of Park Hills Country Club, and a former member of Altoona Women’s Club. She was a past president of the Junior Women’s Club and Blair County Republican Club, and she was Miss Blair County in the 1950s.
She enjoyed bringing love to family and friends and also enjoyed making jewelry, bridge club, music, reading, snowmobiling and traveling.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2013. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
