James V. ‘Jim’ Gaeto

James V. “Jim” Gaeto, 66, Altoona, died Friday at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, son of June Marie (Nelson) Gaeto and the late Vincent P. Gaeto Sr.

Surviving are his mother of Altoona; two brothers: Joseph (Patricia) of Altoona and Robert (Lori) of Sinking Valley; four sisters: Marjorie (David) Gaeto Claar of Hollidaysburg, Susan (Ronald) McGeary of Tyrone, Theresa Finamore of Altoona and Mary (Alan) Dodson of Altoona; and two sisters-in-law: Rebecca Gaeto of Indiana, Pa., and Mary Beth Gaeto Helsley of Hollidaysburg.

He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews: Mark McGeary, Sara Hedberg, John Finamore, Stephanie Finamore, Joseph Gaeto Jr., Patrick Gaeto, Matthew Gaeto, John Gaeto, Alan Dean Dodson Jr. and Katlyn Dodson.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1976; and two brothers: Thomas J. in 1985 and Vincent P. Jr. in 2008.

Jim enjoyed music, sports and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed his Wednesday outings with his friend Mike, singing Christian music and hunting and fishing with his dad. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church by Father David Rizzo. Committal will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Patton.
