Jacqueline A. Stumpf

Jacqueline Anne Stumpf, 79, Mechanicsburg, passed away Sunday at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Roy and Dorothy (Brandt) Helsel.

Surviving are her husband, retired Lt. Col. Thomas A. Stumpf, U.S. Marine Corps; two sons: Eric A. and wife, Denise, of Fontana, Calif., and Douglas D. and wife, Melissa, of Aledo, Texas; and two grandchildren: Zachaery and Natalie Stumpf.

Jacqueline was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School and attended Dickinson College in Carlisle. She was a former employee of La Casa Beauty Boutique in Shiremanstown. She was a member of the Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church, a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority while attending Dickinson College, and a prominent member of the officers’ wives’ clubs throughout her husband’s military career.

Jacqueline was a student of the arts and taught arts and crafts to many military families through the years. She enjoyed ceramics, placing her toes in the sand while vacationing at the beach, reading mystery novels and attending the monthly mystery book club in Mechanicsburg. She was a friendly, kind, outgoing, courteous individual who was loved by many and will be terribly missed.

Friends will be received from 9:30 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
