Jack V. Dellinger

Jack V. Dellinger, 88, Sproul, passed away Monday at The Village at Morrisons Cove.

He was born in Sproul, son of the late Ambrose and Lillie Bell (Gordon) Dellinger. He married Zella Claar on Oct. 10, 1946, in Cumberland, Md.

Surviving are his wife; two sons: Richard and wife, Fay, of Osterburg and Terry of Sproul; a granddaughter, Julie Weyant and husband, Dale, of Osterburg; a great-granddaughter, Haylee Weyant; a step-granddaughter, Michelle Peterson and husband, Michael, of Duncansville; and two step-grandsons: Tyler and Nicholas Peterson.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Bell Glass.

Jack was a 1943 graduate of Claysburg High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from Veeder-Root Co. in 1987 after 27 years of service and previously had been employed at the Sproul Brickyard. He was a member of the Claysburg American Legion and Chimney Rocks Beagle Club, and he enjoyed hunting and listening to country music.

Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, Pastor Robert Penner officiating. Interment will be at Bedford County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Greenfield United Church of Christ, 1924 Beaver Dam Road, Imler, PA 16655.
