Harold Ratchford, 68, Dysart, died Saturday.
He was born in Fallentimber RD, son of the late Eugene Sr. and Katherine (Matish) Ratchford.
He is survived by these brothers and sisters: Alice Hale of Altoona, Elizabeth “Betty” Crossman of Dysart, Patrick (Barbara Lumadue) of Altoona, Gerald “Jake” (Linda Stewart) of Cresaptown, Md., and Michael (Shirley Steele) of Meadville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Eugene Jr. “Bucky” and Fred; and a sister, Yvonne Cuomo.
Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing softball.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Harold retired in 2007 after 18 years of service from F.L. Smithe Machine Co. Inc., Duncansville.
He was a member of Laurel Run Sportsmen, Dysart, International Association of Machinists, Loretto American Legion, Ashville VFW and St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where a vigil service will be held Monday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, the Rev. Sean Code as celebrant. Committal will be at church cemetery. Military rites will be in charge of Ashville VFW, Loretto American Legion and other local military organizations.
