Clayton R. ‘Boog’ ‘Smitty’ Smith

Clayton R. “Boog” “Smitty” Smith, 71, Greenwood, formerly of Duncansville, died Tuesday evening at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Raymond H. and Carie Elizabeth (Franklin) Smith. He married Mary E. “Lidy” Black on March 2, 1963, and she preceded him in death on March 20, 2013.

Surviving are three sons: Dave (Kim) of Greenwood, Rick (Connie) of Altoona and Randy (Amy) of Duncansville; five grandchildren: Broc, Travis and fiancee, Macenzie, Derek, Madison and Gavin; six siblings: Levina Hazenstab of Dry Run, Judy Miller and Pauline Eger, both of Carson Valley, Traford “Tap” of Donnertown and Donald “Skeets” and Daniel “Hoon,” both of Duncansville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Harry, Vian, Terry “Ears,” and Raymond H. Jr. “Mick.”

Boog attended Hollidaysburg High School. He owned and operated C.R. Smith Oil Burner Service. He was very proud of his flower and tomato gardens and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Smitty enjoyed “coffee time,” tinkering with his tractors, watching NASCAR, playing cards and going to cook-outs and loved spending time with friends and family.

Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 17, 2013, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home Inc., 1218 Fourth Ave., Duncansville, the Rev. Jaime G. Olson officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
