Reba B. Rhodes

Reba B. Rhodes, 93, Tyrone, and a guest at Epworth Manor, died Saturday at the Manor. She was born in Hyndman, daughter of Lloyd and Nina G. (Shaffer) Burkett. She married Homer Rhodes on May 7, 1947, at the Columbia Avenue Methodist Church parsonage, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1980.
Surviving are two children: Homer (Helen) Rhodes Jr. of Boalsburg and Patricia (Richard) Gardner of Tyrone; eight grandchildren: Richard W. Gardner III, Kristel Kustenbauder, Robert Gardner, Rebecca Durgin, Mary Sweeney, Michelle Humphreys, Emily Rhodes and Margaret Rhodes; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael; and a sister, Charlotte Hostler. Reba was the last of her immediate family.
Reba was a 1938 graduate of Tyrone High School. She had been employed as a sewing machine operator at Big Yank, retiring in 1982.
Reba was a very active member of First English Lutheran Church. She loved to cook big dinners for her family.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at First English Lutheran Church, the Rev. Ralph Hamer officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
