Miriam (Heverly) Meraglio

Miriam (Heverly) Meraglio, 89, passed away on Friday at Hospice House in Boardman, Ohio, with her family by her side. She was born in Utahville, daughter of Fred and Florence (Long) Heverly, the fourth of 11 children.

Miriam was a 1943 graduate of Beccaria Township High School and a 1947 graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce. She worked in the offices of Ward Trucking for several years. She married Joseph Meraglio on Aug. 27, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio, where they had three children and lived for 16 years before moving to Youngstown.

Miriam enjoyed social times with people, lunches with friends, family vacations at the beach and reunions with her large, extended family. She and Joe had lots of happy times criss-crossing the country on their many bus trips.

As a founding member of the choir at St. Joseph parish, Miriam dedicated many years to church services. Her other hobbies included tending to her flowers, her TOPS club meetings, reading and crossword puzzles. She was even a fan of American Idol and was passionate about her favorites.

Above all, she loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory her three children: Sharon Meraglio Dundee of Cleveland, Ohio, Connie (Dominic) Giglio of Sharpsville and Anthony (Kim) Meraglio of Austintown, Ohio; two grandsons: Joseph Dominic Giglio and Anthony Louis Giglio; two sisters: Louise Possumato of Atlantic, Iowa, and Ruth Zakutney of Hookstown; three brothers: Ben Heverly of Brunswick, Ohio, George Heverly of Leland, N.C., and Ray Heverly of Sebring, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, who died on Sept. 13, 2003; two brothers: Bill Heverly and Irl Heverly; and three sisters: Nona Rutter, Florence Heverly and Ethel Heverly.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown, Ohio, and from 9:30 to the 10 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at St. Joseph Church, New Road, Austintown, Ohio. Miriam will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown immediately following the service.

The family is thankful for the fantastic compassionate staff at Hospice House for their kind and loving care of Miriam, which granted her a peaceful transition, and asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
