Kathlyn J. ‘Katie’ Kelley
Kathlyn J. “Katie” Kelley, 73, Altoona, died Sunday evening at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Joseph H. and Thelma S. (Wagner) Shannon. She married Robert T. Kelley on May 21, 1964, at Fifty-Eighth Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband; a stepson, Bob Jr. (Kathy) of Altoona; two sons: Stephen (Crisanne) of Altoona and Jeffery (Kelly) of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren: Brandon, Paige, Joshua, Acacia, Zachary, Faith and Madelynn; a sister, Jane Glass (Ray) of Hollidaysburg; two brothers: Carl (Bea) of Cleveland, Ohio, and George (Donna) of Bedford; a foster brother, Jack Hafer (Mary) of Everett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Katie was a graduate of Bedford High School. She retired from Carpenter Co. and previously worked at Sylvania and Saf-T-Bak. She attended Hicks United Methodist Church and was a past member of Fifty-Eighth Street United Methodist Church.
Katie was a seamstress and loved sewing. She enjoyed doing puzzles, traveling, helping others and was devoted to her family. She was a collector of porcelain dolls.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service, Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, officiated by the Rev. Rich Morris, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home Inc., 1218 Fourth Ave., Duncansville. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
