Helen Ninosky, 96, Irvona, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, peacefully in her sleep at the residence of her daughter, Catherine Hutton of Irvona.
She was born in Cass, W.Va., daughter of the late Frank and Tatiana (Lesova) Lucas.
Surviving are five children: John of Harrisburg, Joseph and wife, Mary, of Sykesville, Md., and Dorothy Caskey and husband, Hugh, Marilyn Cusick and Catherine Hutton, all of Irvona; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, George Lucas of Irvona; four sisters-in-law: Chris Lucas of State College and Jean Lucas, Olga Lindsey and Mary Hilliard, all of Irvona; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Ninosky; three children: Nellie, Merle and Michael; two grandsons: Bryan Ninosky and Michael Saracco; a great-grandson, Lance Cusick; five sisters: Mary Bihun, Anna Moslak, Sophie Mandell, Kathrine Finch and Ethel Ivicic; five brothers: John, Bill, Theodore, Nick and Walter Lucas; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Ninosky; and two sons-in-law: Larry Cusick and Randy Hutton.
Helen was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, Irvona, and the church’s sisterhood, choir, hall committee and cemetery committee.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home Inc., Irvona, where a Panikhida service will be held at 8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, Hemlock Street, Irvona, Hieromonk David Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
