Florence Marie Guyer
Florence Marie Guyer, 89, Martinsburg, went home to be with the Lord Friday evening following an extended illness.
She was born in Queen, daughter of the late Edwin and Maggie (Dively) Davis. She married Mahlon F. Guyer on April 25, 1943, in Waterside, Pa. He died on Dec. 13, 2007.
She is survived by four children: Delores Butler and her husband, Tom, Kenneth James Guyer and wife, Janet, and Judy Mock, all of Martinsburg, and Joyce McClelland and her husband, Dave, of Tyrone; 11 grandchildren: Michelle Hammel and husband, Jim, Tom Butler IV and wife, Denise, Charlotte Claar and husband, Shawn, Kenneth Butler and wife, Lisa, Joy Guyer, Jason Guyer and wife, Michelle, Justin Guyer and wife, Casey, Wendy Boyles and husband, Scott, Becky Clapper and husband, Josh, Heather Gaylor and husband, Darrin, and David McClelland and wife, Kim; 23 great-grandchildren: Kayla and Tyler Hammel, Emily, Blake, and Logan Butler, Jesse, Eve, and Greta Claar, Mason, Natalie, and Troy Butler, Darby, Devon, and Dessa Boyles, John and Taylor Zimmerman, Jaymz, Clayton, Landon, and Braxton McClelland, and Katie, Rachel, and Caiah Guyer; a sister, Marjorie Forshey in California; and her special caregivers: Becky Clapper and Darsha Pate.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister: Eugene Knisely and Elizabeth Smith.
Marie was a charter member of the Altoona Bible Church.
She had been employed at Gable’s, and Bon-Ton, and retired from Veeder-Root in 1981.
She was a 1942 graduate of Replogle High School, where she had a perfect attendance record through her 12 years of schooling.
She enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Altoona Bible Church, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. by Pastor Steward McClelland. Interment will be made in Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury.
