Dolores Annabella (Wood) Fox
Dolores Annabella Fox, 91, Sinking Valley, died Monday at her residence.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late George and Frances Wood. She married Richard R. Fox on Jan. 18, 1946, and he preceded her in death Feb. 5, 1998.
Surviving are five children: Jeanne Fleck and husband, Wayne, Richard, James, William and wife, Martha, and Penny Black and husband, Bob, all of Sinking Valley; eight grandchildren: Jim Fleck and wife, Jennifer, Kimberli Fleck, Matt Black, Ryan Fleck and wife, Amy, Clinton Black and wife, Jessica, Audrey Patterson and husband, Jason, Rachel Arnold and husband, Timothy, and Ashley Black; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, June Ritchey.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Wood; and a sister, Donna Weaver.
Dolores was a graduate of Altoona High School. During their life together, she and her husband owned and operated Fox’s Maple Glenn Farm in Sinking Valley. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sinking Valley, where she was a former Sunday school teacher.
Dolores loved spending time at the Huntingdon Gun Club in Morris. She enjoyed writing poetry, painting and anything involving nature. She was also passionate about genealogy and spent a great amount of her time researching Sinking Valley history and her family’s history.
At Dolores’ request, there will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sinking Valley.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Sunday School, 548 Stevens Hill Road, Tyrone, PA 16686.
