John Jeffrey Winklbauer
Jeff Winklbauer went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, Aug. 12, 2013. Originally from Altoona, he had made Warren his home for the last 23 years.
He is survived by the mother he adored, Joan Marie Winklbauer of Dallas, Pa.; and his son, Jason and wife, Ashley, of Philadelphia. Jeff was so excited and proud that Jason and Ashley are expecting twins.
Jeff is lovingly remembered by his siblings and their spouses: Peter and Karen Winklbauer of St. Marys, David and Patricia Winklbauer of Norcross, Ga., Lee Ann and Tom Burkhart of Trucksville and Lisa and Anthony Hummel of Dover, Del. He will also be truly missed by his nieces and nephews: Matthew, Alecia, Kailee, Cara and Danny.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, John P. Winklbauer.
Jeff graduated from Bishop Guilfoyle High School in Altoona in 1973 and was a member of the Marauder football team. He then served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force, and he worked at General Dynamics in Rhode Island. For the past 23 years, he had been employed as a psychiatric aide at the Warren State Hospital, where he was known as “Wink.” He will be remembered for his amiable personality and recognized for his passion for patient care.
Jeff will always be remembered as a jovial spirit and will be sincerely missed by his family and friends who adored and loved him.
Friends will be received from 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral Mass Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Jeff’s name to the Warren State Hospital, 33 Main Drive, Warren, PA 16365.
