John ‘Jack’ Joseph Walter

John “Jack” Joseph Walter, 66, passed away peacefully Thursday in Austin, Texas, after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by his family and his animals.

He was born in Altoona, son of Leo and Frances (Ashburn) Walter, and moved to Austin in 1984. He spent his time traveling between Austin and Altoona over the years with the love of his life Susan “Sue” Musselman.

Surviving are his wife, Sue; two daughters: Kelly Walker and Kerri Walter: three grandchildren: Michael Domotor and Zachary and Bayleigh Walker; a great-granddaughter, Sklyar Walker: two brothers: Leo and Charles (wife Mary Misko); a sister-in-law, Carol Weyant; a brother in-law, Pat Musselman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and a host of friends, including Butch Black of Claysburg and Brooks Ratcliff of San Francisco, Calif., who have always been there for Dad.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Harry. The family is especially thankful for the staff at UPMC Bedford and Dr. Stephen Yanoshak in Pennsylvania and for the staff at Brackenridge Hospital, Dr. Jason Kaplan, and Hospice Austin.
