Brenda S. (Eicher) Smith

Brenda S. (Eicher) Smith, 65, Lilly, passed away peacefully Monday at home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Calvin and Elizabeth “Betty” Eicher.

Surviving are her husband of 39 years, F. James Smith; five children: Brett Dively, Judy Ann (Dan) Ehrenfeld, Marcee McDermott, Gary (Holly) Smith and Corey Filo and fiancee, Stacey Marcinko; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda (Pete) Piedmont; two brothers: Brad and Daron (Brock) Eicher; two sisters-in-law: Marilyn Eicher and Sharon Smith; a brother-in-law, Ronald (Janice) Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Alec and Larry Eicher; two brothers-in-law: Donnie Smith and Lee “Tony” Smith; and a nephew, Bobby Smith.

Brenda was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel National Catholic Church, Lilly, where she was a secretary for several years, and she also was a member of the Lilly American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed her time with her puppy, Sadie. She had a special place in her heart for all her grandchildren, and she loved sharing special time with each and every one of them.

Brenda was blessed to have the huge support of family and friends. Her courage and determination to fight were a true testament of her faith in God.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Thomas F. Cloherty Funeral Home, Lilly. A service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday by Lilly American Legion Auxiliary and a vigil for the deceased will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lilly, by Father Scott Lill. Committal will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lilly Washington War Memorial or the American Red Cross.
