Robert Vernon ‘Roytan’ Boring

Robert Vernon “Roytan” Boring, 54, Altoona, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Friday morning at his residence after complications resulting from pneumonia and brain tumors.

He was born in Johnstown, son of Vernon Leroy “Runt” Boring and Betty Jean (Daugherty) Leidy, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are a son, Robert Raymond (Boring) Schneider and wife, Crystal; two grandchildren: Cody and Leah “Leroy”; four sisters: Patty Postgate and husband, Ron, of Seward, Vonda McConnell and husband, Randy, of Altoona, with whom he resided, Karen Nichols and husband, Emanuel, of Duncansville and Mindy Cobler and husband, Robert, of Hollidaysburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, Ryan Boring; a niece, Shannon Postgate; three brothers: Ryan, Kevin and Jeff; and his grandparents: Raymond and Julia Boring and Harold and Emma Leidy.

Roy was a 1977 graduate of United High School, Armagh, and was employed with Boilermakers Local Union 154.

Roy enjoyed the simple life and the people who surrounded him, listening to music, watching the History Channel and learning about the Civil War. He enjoyed sitting on the porch with the morning sun on his face, listening to the birds, having Mason share his snacks, and his visits from Kenz and being called “Uncle Boob.” His life can be summed up in the songs he listened to. As he climbs his “Stairway to Heaven” and becomes a “Freebird,” he can say “I did it my way.”

Friends will be received from 2 until the 4 p.m. funeral service Monday, July 29, 2013, at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh. Interment will be at Brush Valley Lutheran Cemetery, Brush Valley.

In Roy’s memory, take the time today to visit or phone a loved one.
