Mary Elizabeth Kos

Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Kos, 81, Gallitzin, died Friday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Tunnelhill, daughter of the late William D. and Lillian (Long) Myers. She married Felix Kos on Nov. 23, 1950, at St. Patrick Church.

Surviving are her husband, Felix; eight children: Richard (Lynn) of Cresson, Debbie of Gallitzin, Joseph (Bonnie) of Ashville, Thomas of Gallitzin, Dianne of Altoona, Michael (Diane) of Gallitzin, Mary Lou (Dan) McConnell of Gallitzin and Felix Jr. of Altoona; 24 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one to be born this year; seven siblings: Kathleen (Phillip) Racicot of Collin, Texas, Thomas (Carol) of Loretto, Joanne (Edgar) Link of Carrolltown, Eugene (Marilyn) of Gallitzin, Denise (Alex) DeStafano of Ashville, Lou Ann (Kirby) Smith of Shingle Springs, Calif., and Matt of Erie; two sisters-in-law: Beverly Myers and Cecelia Myers, both of Gallitzin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Peter and Daniel.

Mary Elizabeth enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, baking, cooking and caring for infants. She especially enjoyed her grand and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 14, 2013, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a vigil service will be held Monday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, the Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrant. Committal will be at Resurrection Mausoleum.

The family suggests contributions be made in Mary Elizabeth’s memory to Gallitzin Area Ambulance Service, 110 Chestnut Street, Gallitzin, PA 16641.
