George O. ‘Mac the Hat’ McMullen
George O. “Mac the Hat” McMullen, 84, Altoona, passed away Sunday evening at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of George O. Sr. and Sara (James) McMullen. He married JoAnn Fleck on Dec. 27, 1962, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife; three sons: Donald S. (Traci) of Altoona, Jeffrey A. of San Rafael, Calif., and Dennis S. (Dorleen) of Levittown; a daughter, Constance Stinson of Levittown; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Gail Feathers of Claysburg and Rosemary Nave of Everett.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Harshbarger.
Mac the Hat was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He was featured in the Altoona Mirror for having a career spanning more than 50 years in automobile sales in the Altoona/Hollidaysburg area. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan and also enjoyed golfing at Sylvan Hills and many other area golf courses.
At his request, there will be no viewing or services.
The family requests that donations be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602, in memory of Mac the Hat.
