Valia M. ‘Val’ Lupinetti
Valia M. “Val” Lupinetti, 82, Gallitzin, died Monday at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview.
She was born in Gallitzin, daughter of the late Pasquale and Vincenza (Impullitti) Lupinetti.
Surviving are a brother, Ronald (Esther) of Gallitzin; two sisters-in-law: Susanne Lupinetti of Harrisburg and Maria Lupinetti of Atco, N.J.; four nieces and nephews: Andrea (Victor) Regan of Strongsville, Ohio, Dr. Anthony (Diane) Lupinetti of York, Dr. Thomas (Elena) Lupinetti of Harrisburg and Mark (Barbara) Lupinetti of Atco, N.J.; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews: Nicholas, Giana, Jamie, Christie, Mark, Kelsey, Gabriella, Leno and Michelina Lupinetti and Alec and Anthony Regan; a great-great-niece, Oliva Umosella; and a special friend and caretaker, Louise Jasper and Aubree.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Richard, James and wife, Eleanor, and Anthony; and a niece, Melissa Lupinetti.
Val was a 1948 graduate of Gallitzin High School and recently celebrated her 65th reunion with her classmates. She worked at Puritan Sportswear and retired from SKF Industries, and she also worked for many years as a foster grandparent at Gallitzin Head Start. She was a member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, and she also belonged to the Moose Auxiliary, Legion of Mary and Loyal Christian Benefit Association and attended many novenas with the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Loretto.
Val enjoyed reading, spending time with her nieces and nephews, attending plays, knitting and playing bingo.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be concelebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, the Rev. Albert Ledoux and Monsignor Bernard Przybocki as celebrants. Committal will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gallitzin Area Ambulance, Gallitzin Public Library or Gallitzin Head Start.
