Thomas S. Mauk

Thomas S. Mauk, 79, Claysburg, passed away Monday at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring.

He was born in Claysburg, son of the late Samuel and Lucy (Dibert) Mauk.

Surviving are two sons: Thomas R. Mauk and wife, Sheila, of Claysburg and Edward P. Mauk and wife, Holly, of Pittsburgh; two daughters: Terri S. Mauk of Horseheads, N.Y., and Diane K. Mauk of Martinsburg, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Mauk of Tomahawk, Wis.; a sister, Hazel French of Duncansville; and his longtime companion, Helen Mock of Claysburg.

Tom retired as a lineman in 1992 from United Telephone/Sprint. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Claysburg Volunteer Fire Company for over 50 years and served as chief and trustee for many of those years. He coached Little League for several years.

Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and spending time with his family.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at the funeral home, with Pastor Gary Blankley officiating.

Interment will be at Claysburg Union Cemetery with military honors provided by the Blair County Honor Guard.
