Robert A. ‘Bob’ Wassam

Robert A. “Bob” Wassam, 68, Claysburg, formerly of South Carolina, died Thursday at his residence.

He was born in Pittsburgh, son of the late Kenneth and Beatrice (Fyler) Wassam.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Delores (Gowetski); three daughters: Julie Staud and husband, Joseph, of Virginia Beach, Va., Jessica Hufnagle and husband, Kirk, of Zelienople and Rebecca Hipp and husband, Joseph Ward, of Cayce, S.C.; three sons: Michael Consla of Elkins, W.Va., Robert Consla and wife, Christina, of Trumbull, Conn., and Lucas Wassam and wife, Rebecca, of Butler; 15 grandchildren; and a sister, Linda Coolbaugh of Millersville, Md.

Bob was a graduate of Greenwood High School, Millerstown (Perry County), and the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in English. He was employed as a social worker for 17 years and then as a truck driver for 10 years. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Newry.

Bob enjoyed studying languages, especially Russian.

At his request, there will be no public viewing. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Pfoutz Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery, Millerstown, by Pastor Kathy Colebank.
