Dennis R. “Denny” Benson

Dennis R. “Denny” Benson, 58, East Freedom, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at his residence Friday morning.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Melvin and Ethel (Stiffler) Benson. He married Karen D. Sellers on Sept. 20, 1975.

Surviving are his wife, Karen, of East Freedom; two sons: Christopher R. Benson and wife, Mandi, and their daughters: Karise and Karlee, all of Dubuque, Iowa, and Joshua J. Benson and wife, Shanon, of Blue Knob; a brother, Jeffrey A. Benson of Duncansville; and a sister, MaryAnn Wolicki of Parker, Colo.

Denny was a 1972 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School and was part owner and salesman at Benson Auto Sales Inc. until his retirement in 2008. He attended the Claysburg Church of God.

Denny enjoyed hunting, especially with his beagles, fishing and snowmobiling. He was a former member of the Blair County Horseshoe League. He was the life of the party and enjoyed showing his friends and family a good time.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Claysburg Church of God, Pastor Marcus Tanner officiating. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
