Mary Skorupa, 86, a resident of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Gallitzin, died Sunday at the home.
She was born in Cresson Shaft, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Samborsky) Vinich.
Surviving are a son, Dennis (Darlene Latterner) of Gallitzin; two grandchildren: Heather Skorupa (Brian Noel) of Altoona and Ryan Skorupa (Angie) of Altoona; a great-granddaughter, Brookelynn; two sisters: Theresa Marconi of Gallitzin and Shirley (Pete) Litzinger of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John M., on Nov. 17, 1983; a son, George, on Oct. 15, 1995; two brothers: Frank and Joseph; and two sisters: Helen Mechuta and Annie Christy.
Mary worked as a seamstress for Publix Shirt Factory, Gallitzin. She was a member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, and she enjoyed crocheting, bingo and watching baseball and football.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, the Rev. Albert Ledoux as celebrant. Committal will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
