Anthony W. ‘Tony’ Sinisi

Anthony W. “Tony” Sinisi, 91, Altoona, passed away Sunday at home.

He was born in Ripacandida, Italy, son of Donato and Anna (Martino) Sinisi.

Surviving are a sister, Carmela (James) Marin of Altoona; three brothers: John (Nelda), Albert and James (Barbara), all of Altoona; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five siblings: Michael, Americo, Helen, George and Henry.

Tony was a 1939 graduate of Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman during WWII. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He retired from Conrail with 40 years of service.

Tony was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Ronald Osinski. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery with military honors.

The family requests that Mass contributions be given in memory of Tony.
